Final Cut

We decided to make a few more changes to our final cut. For example, making the clip of the hand shorter and not having the different angle of the hand. This is because once the other members of my group had spoken about what I had done, we decided that it did not give the effect I wanted it to. Another change I made was taking out the blur because I had added it in there to see what it looked like and forgot to take it out as it did not look very effective.

First final cut

This is our final cut. However I still do not feel that the first bit is very clear that it is a flashback. I think the parts that need to be changed is the part where the 'doll' flickers from black and white to colour. I think it needs to be a quicker pace to ensure it confuses the audience. I also think the part with the hand needs to be altered because the idea is for it to make the audience feel disorientated however I am not sure it does. I really like how it has turned out after 1.02 minutes. I think that if I were to do it again, I would possibly cut the parts before and start from that point and then film some of the '8 hours after'.

Evaluation-Question 5

How did you attract/address your audience?

The methods we have used to attract our audience is by including the two main characters in the opening that are in the age range of our target audience. We only included females which I think we should have also included at least one male character so that it would be easier for our male audience to relate. We will target our audience by putting adverts on social media as the majority will have at least one type of social networking site. We will put adverts on bill boards in places that our target audience frequently visit such as train stations and shopping centres. We will put adverts in magazines like vogue and ok! as well as newspapers like the sun and the daily mail. Our secondary audience would include both genders 25 and above. These could include the parents, family or friends of our primary audience.

Evaluation-Question 1

Anamatic

All of our group took on a different role in this task. Fern filmed it, I have been doing the editing and Sukhpreet made the storyboard and anamatic. I think this anamatic is good but it is not as detailed as the other one that we made. This is because we did not have as much time to complete this one. To improve, I think that we should add the same music we will be using in the actual horror opening. Also make the scenes to the actual length.

Rough cut

This is the rough cut of our film. The original name we had for our product was Taped however we have now chosen the name 'Possession' because we thought it had several meanings. The girl in the white dress (me) is possessed and also she has kidnapped the girl (Serina) so therefore she is now in her possession. From looking at our rough cut, I think we should change the font of the title as it is too bold and does not convey horror, instead comedy. From the feedback we have got, we have had suggestions to change the sequence of which the clips are in as this is looking more like a trailer instead of an opening. And to also change some of the clips to a blur to make them look as if they are part of  a dream/flashback.

Filming Process

Production sequence

This is our production sequence.  We chose the name 'Red Grape' as our production name as we thought it would be memorable as it is different but also because the word red gives the ideas of blood. The word grape could connote to being peeled, we are peeling away the mystery of what is going to happen in the film. We decided that Fern would be the one to design this. I think she did a very good job. The picture at the start gives the connotations of horror as it has blood looking rust on the top. There has been a red tint added to it to give a better effect as it connotes horror. The colour of the writing is red because it is associated with death and blood. I like the way it fades to black with the writing still on the screen and I also like the sound of the 'blood splatter' because it adds a better effect. If we were to do it again, I would add more animation and maybe change the font.

Change of plan

This is the rough cut of our opening sequence. However from here we have decided to start another opening because we do not think this is very good. The filming was not very steady, the dialogue was very hard to hear and we would have had to change the music as we did not make it. I feel this is a risky thing to do however I think we could potentially get it done by the deadline. We will not have as much time to film and edit etc but I feel we will come out with a much better opening and truly show our skills. We did not finish it as we did not add in the title or any of the production names etc. I think the worst part was towards the end, with the doll and the fire. A lot of our feedback had said it was not very easy to wok out the storyline. Another point is that it was not clear we were at a funeral because of the clothing worn. I felt that it looked a little too much like a trailer instead of an opening so we will keep that in mind for our other idea. I think we are making the right decision to re think our idea.
